I would like to update the sat nav maps/MMI in my 2018 A6 Avant (C8). My car is booked in for an oil service at an Audi dealership soon but when I asked them if they could update the sat nav maps they said it would be about an hours labour which I was surprised by (I thought access to free software update was one of the advantages of servicing

Even with updated maps, you are still dealing with 10+ year old technology which pales in comparison to what is available today. I actually just bough a Blu 7" tablet for less than $100.00 that I use exclusively for GPS and Bluetooth Streaming and am pretty happy with it.
